Employee Attributes

Introduction:

What is rainbow?  What is the task?

Rainbow Light is a small charity that supports clients who have problems with their sight and need help in using ICT. The task is to talk about the attributes and attitudes necessary to work in Rainbow

Specific Attribute – Technical Knowledge

The rainbow charity who help people with vision problems use ICT, for this job a good use of technical knowledge will need to be displayed such as Burning CD’s and be able to use the software that is needed to burn CD’s, this is important as the volunteers need to create talking books and save them to a CD for the clients, Creating labels is important as the clients have to know what the CD is. The volunteers need to also be able to log onto a computer, navigate folders, use the internet and have basic typing skills; all these skills will be needed as part of the job.

Team working:

Within the rainbow organisation team working is very important as they are a charity group which means that they will have to be able to work with clients that they have, also they will have to be able to work in a team with people such as with the manager or any other volunteers in the group.

If the people are unable to work within a group then this will ruin opportunities they may have and portray Rainbow in a negative way.

Attitude:

Confidence-This is an important feature to have when working within the Rainbow organisation because when speaking to other people in the group or potential clients having confidence shows to the other person that you are confident in what you are talking about and will also help get the point that you are stating across, it will also help when trying to gain new customers. Confidence is important for the work you do and the relationships you build. If you come across as someone who can be walked all over, this is precisely what is likely to happen, this would have a negative effect on the company as people would not want to have dealings with someone who doesn't come across as confident

Self Motivation- It is important for the employees to be self motivated because they may have to deal with people over time that don't have much confidence in themselves and it will take the workers to help motivate the people they are dealing with, it is important that workers motivate themselves and do their best everyday because if the workers aren't motivated then an organisation will not be able to function to the full extent and clients wouldn't be able to achieve what it is they are trying to do
